I contacted Noah’s helmet doctor today as Noah is very close to outgrowing his current helmet. I got some great news. Under our new insurance provider, it looks like his helmet is going to be covered 100%. Well, minus his deductible, but still, it will apply towards his dedcutible. We are thrilled! The other great thing is that this opens up new options for who we get his new helmet through. We have an appointment with one of the leading treatment centers for plagiocephaly on Monday. Hopefully we will get some good news after meeting with them.
Noah is doing much better at this point. He hasn’t had a fever in days, and he’s back to sleeping through the night (except for waking up at 4:00am on the dot this morning…). So glad to have our happy little boy back! He is so full of smiles, and when he’s sick, we’re reminded of just how blessed we are that he’s so happy most of the time.
In other news, our last appointment with the helmet center ended in a lot of confusion. Noah’s numbers were increasing again, rather than decreasing, which does not make a lot of sense. Our orthotist was really amazed/confused by this and consulted with his fellow orthotists at Hanger. The response was less than comforting, since none of them really knows why this is happening.
With several months left that we can continue to re-shape his head, it looks like we’re headed down the path of a new helmet at this point. So, we’re weighing our options of how to move forward. Noah has almost outgrown his current helmet, but we want to make use of all the designed space in it before creating a new one. So, prayers would be appreciated for wisdom and perfect timing on this. We know it will definitely be worth it in the end – we’ve already seen great improvement thus far.
Noah finally slept through the night last night. He’s acting like he’s feeling much better this morning, and his fever has stayed low. So, hopefully he’s on the mend now.
Still fighting 102º+ fevers. He got some good rest today, and we’re hoping he’ll rest tonight (we need it as much as he does!). The doctor said we could use the ear numbing ear drops we got for the plane ride several months ago, and that seems to be helping.
Congratulations, Noah. He got his first ear infection — not just in one ear, but in both. What can I say, he’s an overachiever! The doctor said it’s probably a consequence of his previous cold and congestion. So, hopefully the medicine we got will help him rest and get better quickly. Keep him in your prayers, please, as he’s still got a sore throat and lots of congestion. This has been a tough one to kick for him, and I know he’s exhausted. He has to be — we are! 🙂
Just when we thought Noah was getting well…he woke us up this morning at around 3am with a 102.5º fever. We finally got him back down around 4am, but he was still warm. This morning when he woke up, his fever was up to 103.1º. So, Amanda is at the doctor with him now. They tested him for RSV and the flu this morning; both came back negative. Hopefully, he’ll start feeling better soon, poor guy.
Poor Noah has been sick since Sunday; seems he’s picked up a bad cold. He’s still in good spirits, but he’s coughing a lot, to the point that he’s not sleeping…which means we aren’t sleeping. 🙁
Last night, we covered the soles of his feet and his chest in Vicks Babyrub for the congestion, Orajel for the teething gums, Tylenol for the fever, PediaCare Gentle Vapors night light for the cough, a humidifier for moisture, and a heater to keep him warm. He did finally go to sleep, but it took a while. He was back up at 4am. Poor little guy…
Surely, we didn’t overdo it as first-time parents, right? 😉
I woke up this morning to find Noah staring at me through his crib. This has never happened before and it was quite surprising to see eyeballs peering at me through the slats of his crib as I walked in his room. I looked over the rail and discovered how he did this amazing trick…I’m afraid our world is about to drastically change… 🙂
Noah went with us for pictures on Sunday of his uncle Ben and soon-to-be aunt Katie. He was awesome, for having missed both his naps that day. He even gave us a few smiles for the camera!
