6-month checkup

Noah went in for his 6-month checkup today, and everything is great.  He’s up to 18lbs 14oz now, and the doctor said he’s ready to go into a convertible car seat – which Mom and Dad are thrilled about!  He’s getting a little heavy in his carrier!  Noah is in the 90-95th percentile on height and somewhere around the 50th percentile on weight – the doctor still predicts “tall and skinny” is in his future.  His head is doing well, and the doctor was very happy to see him in his new helmet.

We also got another piece of good news today – Noah got accepted into the Wrap Buddies program from 360 Wraps here in Dallas!  This is a program run by a local shop that wraps plagiocephaly cranial bands as a service to the community.  We were really lucky to be chosen so quickly out of many applicants to get into the program, as Noah only wears this cranial band (helmet) for about 2-1/2 to 3 months.  So, we’re really excited – Noah goes in on November 12th for his wrapping party!

And, lastly, we got some really great photos at the local Flower Mound Pumpkin Patch that I hope to post soon.  Here’s a quick taste of Noah finding the Great Pumpkin.  🙂

My new helmet has arrived!

Now, I know some of you think you know what Noah’s new helmet looks like, but we had a last-minute switcheroo.  We really thought this other helmet fit his style and personality too well.  So, without further ado, Noah’s new helmet…  😉

Noah’s helmet

We met with the doctor today, and it looks like Noah will be getting his helmet in the next 2 weeks.  His head asymmetry had increased since the last visit (which is bad), and the doctor thought it was a good time to go ahead and start him with it.  So, now we face a new dilemma:  which color should the helmet be?  Maroon, with painted white letters/numbers?  Yellow and black, with crash-test emblems on it?  Other suggestions?

Babies Don’t Keep

This poem was introduced to us by Amanda’s mom, and it pretty much sums up life right now.   🙂

Babies Don’t Keep
by Ruth Hulbert Hamilton

Mother, O Mother, come shake out your cloth,
Empty the dustpan, poison the moth,
Hang out the washing, make up the bed,
Sew on a button and butter the bread.

Where is the mother whose house is so shocking?
She’s up in the nursery, blissfully rocking.

Oh, I’ve grown as shiftless as Little Boy Blue,
Lullabye, rockabye, lullabye loo.
Dishes are waiting and bills are past due
Pat-a-cake, darling, and peek, peekaboo

The shopping’s not done and there’s nothing for stew
And out in the yard there’s a hullabaloo
But I’m playing Kanga and this is my Roo
Look! Aren’t his eyes the most wonderful hue?
Lullabye, rockaby lullabye loo.

The cleaning and scrubbing can wait till tomorrow
But children grow up as I’ve learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down cobwebs; Dust go to sleep!
I’m rocking my baby and babies don’t keep.

A sick household

Well, Amanda ended last week sick, possibly from teaching a couple of days at Calhoun again.  🙁  Now, Noah has a cold or allergies; doctor’s not sure, so we’re waiting it out.  The poor little guy can’t hardly breathe at times, he’s so congested.  We really feel for him!  Hopefully, everyone will be back to 100% soon.  And, hopefully, I don’t catch it!  🙂

Noah has had an adventurous couple of weeks.  He’s now found his feet and loves to try to get them in his mouth (yuck!) – it’s still a challenge for him.  He has discovered himself in the mirror and loves to smile and make faces.  See some mirror pictures of him at Moogie’s pics.  He’s still growing by leaps and bounds — 17 lbs 12 oz at the doctor’s office yesterday!  And, he has started rice cereal at night, to sleep through the night (Mandy really likes this!).  It’s been a fun last couple of weeks; Noah is still all smiles, even while he’s sick.  He wants to be happy so badly.  Kinda breaks your heart when he’s snoring and coughing!  🙁
