Instagram Photo Happy 20th and our last dinner at Merriman’s. Once again, they showered us with love and flourless chocolate cake. The food here was amazing, the service was the best, and we had such a great evening talking about the past 20 years. It’s amazing how quickly the time has flown by. Can’t wait to see what the next 20 years hold! #mauibabeandmauiboyliveagain July 11, 2019 Amanda Leave a comment
Instagram Photo When we first started coming to Maui, this was one of the best kept secrets for snorkeling, Honolua Bay. We would come here and pretty much have the place to ourselves and it is, hands down, the best snorkeling spot on the island. Word has gotten out and our favorite spot was now shared with easily our closest 1000 friends. Snorkeling companies now bring hundreds of people here at a time. It is still an amazing spot-just not as private. #crystalclearwater #secretsout #sharethelove #timesachanging July 10, 2019 Amanda Leave a comment
Instagram Photo We were able to snag some of Julia’s famous banana bread before the Nakalele Hike. She’s known as having the best banana bread on the island-ask any local and they will tell you. Also got the very best pineapple lemonade there. #livinglikethelocals #thebestaintcheap #$9bananabread #wasalittleshockedbythat #madeacheapbreakfastthough July 10, 2019 Amanda Leave a comment
Instagram Photo We decided to hike down to Nakalele Blowhole. It’s amazing how quickly things heat up. We started to pleasant and by the end of the hike-it was SO HOT! Glad we did it and that we found the Maui Heart too! July 10, 2019 Amanda Leave a comment
Instagram Photo Happy 20th Anniversary to my beautiful wife. My other (better) half. Mother and teacher to my children. Hiking partner through life. And my best friend. Hau’oli La Ho’omana’o, my love! July 10, 2019 Neil Leave a comment
Instagram Photo Shoppin’ like the locals…Costco style! Even in Maui, it’s impossible to leave for under $100! #wewanttobelocals #souvenirsfromcostco July 8, 2019 Amanda Leave a comment
Instagram Photo Up at 5:30 for…PANCAKES! . The Gazebo is one of our favorite places to eat here. Their macnut/banana/pineapple packaged with whipped cream are TO DIE FOR!!!! When we got there, the wait was already 1 he 15 mins to be seated. We decided that was not going to work for us, we have hikes to hike and waves to catch, so we simply called in a “to go order”, walked along the beach until they texted us, and ate our amazing pancakes right in the beach! Now that’s a beachfront view! #makingsmartlifechoices #alwaysroomforpancakes #mauibabeandmauiboyeatagain #aintgottimeforlines #killerpanckaes #killerview #livinlikethelocals July 8, 2019 Amanda Leave a comment
Instagram Photo Lahaina Fish Company has been our favorite dinner so far. Neil got the Macnut Mahi Mahi covered in some coconut goodness magical sauce. Once again, we are greeted with “Happy 20th Sharps!” They had a personalizes card waiting for us at our table and then our server brought an amazing dessert sampling of key lime pie, whipped cream and strawberries and a chocolate mousse goodness. We have gotten more “congratulations” on this trip and we did on our honeymoon. Our sweet waitress did ask if we were celebrating our honeymoon, however. I laughed and told her she was sweet but it was our 20th. She didn’t sip a bear and said, “oh, your 2nd honeymoon!!!” I told her I liked that! #mauibabeandmauiboyliveagain #2ndhoneymoon #feelingspecialinmaui #whatkids #dowehavekids July 7, 2019 Amanda Leave a comment
Instagram Photo We had the best and craziest driver for our bike trip yesterday. He was full of knowledge and verbalized EVERY SINGLE thought. It was like traveling with a grownup Eli! We couldn’t stop laughing! Makawao was having their 50th 4th of July parade and shut down the fastest way up the volcano, so Billy, our driver took a detour and abruptly stopped the car and told everyone to get out. He was doing a bonus “pineapple field trip” on the Dole Plantation. “Don’t worry about those no trespassing signs and private property signs. COME ON!!!” He worked here as a teenager and gave us fascinating knowledge on just how they produce pineapples here on the island. At one time, there were 12000 acres of pineapples. No, just 800. Interesting fact, Maui is quickly becoming the next big hemp producer. We were able to see the hemp fields down the volcano. #freebonustrip #mauistyle #byepineapples #hellohemp #mauiwowie July 7, 2019 Amanda Leave a comment
