We had the best and craziest driver for our bike trip yesterday. He was full of knowledge and verbalized EVERY SINGLE thought. It was like traveling with a grownup Eli! We couldn’t stop laughing! Makawao was having their 50th 4th of July parade and shut down the fastest way up the volcano, so Billy, our driver took a detour and abruptly stopped the car and told everyone to get out. He was doing a bonus “pineapple field trip” on the Dole Plantation. “Don’t worry about those no trespassing signs and private property signs. COME ON!!!” He worked here as a teenager and gave us fascinating knowledge on just how they produce pineapples here on the island. At one time, there were 12000 acres of pineapples. No, just 800. Interesting fact, Maui is quickly becoming the next big hemp producer. We were able to see the hemp fields down the volcano. #freebonustrip #mauistyle #byepineapples #hellohemp #mauiwowie
